About the RV Lifestyle
More and more people are falling in love with the idea of travelling and camping in their recreational vehicle (RV) or motor home. They prefer living on the road, instead of in one location, generally driving in warmer regions during winter and return home during spring. Hence, the term “RV lifestyle” was coined. People who live in an RV are called “full-timers” and live inside houses on wheels (HOW). Those who live chiefly in a stationary house are known as “slabbers” or “part-timers.” Those who work at camping grounds or RV parks are called “workampers.”
In Australia, a grey nomad refers to anyone 55 or older who is taking a long-term camping trip around the country. A grey nomad is characterised by his sense of adventure, humour, and camaraderie. Many of them have sold their homes choosing to travel incessantly.
Not all RV travellers are retirees. In fact, most younger generation participate in the RV lifestyle. Meanwhile, career people travel and work at the same time using technologies available from the motor home like the Internet and telephone. Some modify their vehicles making them more environmentally friendly.
